PHOTO: Light and Darkness
This is a photo of light trails made by a flashlight in the darkness of the night. I took it at around 21:30 in the evening using a delayed shutter with my camera mounted on a tripod. The delayed shutter caused the black night-time sky to appear grey as the camera soaked up whatever ambient light there was in the background.
I love the way the flashlight made silky trails that looked like shiny white ribbons, and I also like the "atomic" nature of the trails as they look like electron pathways around a nucleus.
The amazing thing about the photo is that the flashlight was very small - it fit in the palm of my hand and was a little larger than a D-size battery (about 10cm in length and no more than 3cm in diameter) - yet it illuminated so much of the surroundings, including the ground at my feet. To me, that demonstrates the power of light; no matter how much darkness surrounds us, the light will break through, and the darker the darkness, the brighter the light.
We must find the light in our souls and we must feed it with the spirit of the ONE so that it shines brightly and continuously grows in radiance. As long as we work in and for the light of the ONE, darkness will never prevail.
