MY PROFILE

Michael Beaton writes on matters of spiritual journey, enlightenment, and transcendence. He has a no-nonsense, controversial approach to providing historical context and compelling insights on ancient human history and how that impacts our spiritual identity. 

Since publishing "Transcendence – A Search for Meaning and Hope" (in 2022), Michael was accepted as a senior contributor (“Elder”) for More to Life magazine in the UK and has published several articles. 

In his richly illustrated book "Finding Light – Photography for Wellbeing of the Mind and Soul" (in 2025), Michael shares his personal experience with mental health and psychology to explore how photography can bring personal fulfilment. 

In addition to his lifelong journey of spiritual discovery, Michael is qualified in psychotherapy and counselling, is a master instructor in martial arts, and balances his interests with a demanding career as an executive in corporate projects and finance.

Starting with his 2022 book "Transcendence", and his upcoming books on deconstructing the origins of our spiritual beliefs, and analysing the dysfunctional notion for a “chosen race of god”, Michael uses investigative reporting to deeply analyse and interpret historical reports and research with the aim of objectively uncovering how we have been conditioned to think (or not) about important matters like spirituality, “god”, redemption, enlightenment, and transcendence.
 
Although his research is deep, and his writing is often complex, Michael strives to present findings in ways that are accessible to a broad spectrum of readers. Michael believes that spiritual wellbeing is just as important as psychological wellbeing, and he applies psychology and the science of human behaviour to discovering practical ways for ordinary people to find spiritual awakening and enlightenment.

Michael is not a dogmatic religious person but is deeply spiritual and open-minded. His writings reflect the propensity for us all to have a profoundly personal relationship with the ONE true God, and the possibility for us all to find and grow in enlightenment.

It's a Mad World

Recently I enjoyed re-watching one of my favourite films: Groundhog Day (starring Bill Murray). The film is such a joy because it provides a message of optimism and makes us realise that the choice is ours for a life of hope and fulfilled living. The world we live in is increasingly meaningless, and there are many reasons for this, with the major reason – in my opinion – being humanity’s inclination to forget and ignore its spiritual origins. We have arrogantly come to think that everything we have in life is self-determined; that we are masters of our own universe and fate. The only thing we need for a fulfilled life is money, and the more we have the better we can live. So our lives become driven by work, which gives us money, which enables us to buy whatever we want. Babylon the Great

In my book “Transcendence” I talk of Babylon the Great as it is expressed in the ancient sacred texts (in particular, see the Biblical book of Revelation). Babylon the Great is treated through symbolism and refers to the world we live in – the earthly empire of the Fallen. Symbolically, Babylon the Great refers to a famous whore who rides a beast with seven heads and ten horns. At length in my book “Transcendence” I describe and explain this symbolism. For the purpose of this article, there are three important things to focus on from the symbolism: 1. What is the beast? This is the system of “governance” on the earth, including those who lead that system. The seven heads of the beast represent empires or ages on earth, while the horns represent kingdoms and rulers through those ages. 2.
