Light and Darkness

Recently, in my deconstructive analysis of the Biblical book of Genesis, I examined two parts:

Genesis 1: 1-8
Genesis 1: 14-18

I encourage readers to investigate these parts as it will help in understanding this article.

If we reconstruct the early sections of Genesis to reflect a logical sequence, it reads like this, in two distinct parts – one about a time and place before heaven, and one about heaven itself:

In the beginning there was darkness over the deep, and God's spirit hovered over the waters. God said, "Let there be light" and there was light. God saw that light was good, and God divided light from darkness. God said, "Let there be a vault (or more correctly, a “division” or “separation”) between the waters to divide the waters in two." And so it was. God made the vault, and it divided the water above the vault from the water under the vault. God called the vault "heaven". 

Now there was a time when the earth did not exist. After creating heaven, God created the earth and placed it in heaven. In the vault of heaven God made the two great lights: the greater light to govern the day, the smaller light to govern the night, and the stars. God set them in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth. God said, "Let the lights in the vault of heaven shine on the earth and divide day from night and indicate festivals, days and years. And so it was. God saw that it was good.

In the diagram here I have created a 2-D representation of what I think is conveyed in Genesis. The dotted line on the perimeter of the circle is my inadequate attempt to indicate the infinite universe of darkness in which the ONE true God exists. Truly, there is no dotted line; the universe is not contained within a boundary – it is endless. The point here being that the infinite universe of darkness in which the ONE resides is outside of and beyond heaven.

Within the infinite universe of darkness, a division (or “vault”) was made to separate “waters” above and below the division. Within the division exists the “material realm” of earth, sun, moon, stars, etc.

At this point we should contemplate the meaning of “waters” used in the sections from Genesis, and why there would be a need to divide the waters in two and have them separated by a vault. Might the “waters” represent beings (of a spiritual nature)? Consider this reference from the Biblical book of Revelation (Chapter 17: Verse 15):

“The waters you saw…are all the peoples, the populations, the nations and the languages…”

If the “waters” are beings, then we see that in the infinite universe of darkness there also existed beings, most likely of a spiritual nature, and most likely emanating from the ONE.  

We should also contemplate why the division of the “waters” is associated with the division of light from darkness.

The ONE’s light illuminated the darkness of the infinite universe. The “waters” within that darkness either accepted or rejected the light. The “waters” that rejected enlightenment (because they thought they were superior to the ONE; or that they could simply disregard the ONE) remained in darkness.

Upon seeing the enlightened and the unenlightened (spiritual) “waters”, the ONE separated light from darkness by a vault so that there were “waters” above the vault and “waters” below the vault. 

We are told that “god” called the vault “heaven”.

What can we learn from this?

Firstly, the ONE true God does not reside in heaven, but beyond heaven, in a realm unseen by any human. The ONE is spirit, not material body like us humans.

Secondly, the spiritual realm that exists beyond earth and heaven is occupied by spiritual beings – enlightened (above earth and heaven), and unenlightened (below earth and heaven). Spiritual beings are not material body beings like us humans.

Thirdly, spiritual beings can access heaven and earth – they can travel from the spiritual realm into our human realm, and they can manifest (i.e. appear) in our realm in various forms. 

I believe that enlightened spiritual beings do not often enter the realm of heaven and earth because they do not interfere with human affairs. On the rare occasions where enlightened spiritual beings do enter our realm, they do so to advise us on taking enlightened actions. However, the choice to do the enlightened actions is ours; we do not always act accordingly.

I believe that unenlightened spiritual beings often enter the realm of heaven and earth because they like to interfere with human affairs. In fact, unenlightened spiritual beings believe they can act as our “gods” in making us do their bidding – the unenlightened amongst us are minions of the unenlightened spiritual beings. Every trouble we see in our earthly world comes from this unenlightened interference in human affairs.

Fourthly, material body beings like us humans, while we live on earth, cannot enter the spiritual realm – either the unenlightened or enlightened realms. The only time humans can enter the spiritual realm is when the human body dies and the soul within the body departs this earth. Then, depending on the choices we have made while alive in our human body, the soul within us can either transcend to the enlightened spiritual realm, or descend to the unenlightened spiritual realm. Transcending to the enlightened spiritual realm means we will never have to return to this “rotten” material realm again, and again, and again (through reincarnation to remain a material body serving the unenlightened “gods”).

Finally, material body beings like us humans, while unable to enter the spiritual realm while alive in our bodies, can still interact with spiritual beings on earth. This is done mostly by invoking unenlightened spiritual beings through mediumship involving communication (channelling, séance, Ouija, etc.) with spirits, or through necromancy by “magically” summoning spirits as apparitions or visions for the purpose of divination and discovering “hidden knowledge”.

Dabbling in spiritual contact while we are alive in our bodies is a dangerous practice. It exposes us to unenlightened spiritual beings who do not care about our best interests. Unenlightened spiritual beings exist with one purpose in mind – to be our “gods” – to influence and control us to serve their needs. And what are their needs? Specifically, only one thing: to prevent us from achieving soul consciousness (i.e. we are more than the “skin bag” that carries us around while we live on earth) and from attaining spiritual enlightenment of the soul while we are alive. By preventing us from achieving soul consciousness and spiritual enlightenment, the unenlightened “gods” keep us imprisoned in flesh bodies on this earth through reincarnation over millennia. Why do they do this? The material realm of heaven and earth is the dominion of the unenlightened spiritual “gods” – as long as they have unenlightened “skin bags” walking the earth, they have a “kingdom” over which to rule and interfere; it is the way that the unenlightened spiritual beings can think of themselves as being like the ONE true God.

In closing, consider this from the Gospel of Thomas (saying 56):

Whoever has come to understand the world has found (only) a corpse, and whoever has found a corpse is superior to the world.

I posted a simple picture with this article because it captures the essence of everything conveyed in this article. I also like the illuminated bridge in the foreground and the meandering path as it stretches towards the light in the background. To me, the bridge illustrates the transcendence we must find as we walk our path on earth. But to find transcendence we must be conscious of our soul and our ability to achieve true spiritual enlightenment, which can only be found beyond heaven, in the realm of enlightened spiritual beings who exist with the ONE.

It's a Mad World

Recently I enjoyed re-watching one of my favourite films: Groundhog Day (starring Bill Murray). The film is such a joy because it provides a message of optimism and makes us realise that the choice is ours for a life of hope and fulfilled living. The world we live in is increasingly meaningless, and there are many reasons for this, with the major reason – in my opinion – being humanity’s inclination to forget and ignore its spiritual origins. We have arrogantly come to think that everything we have in life is self-determined; that we are masters of our own universe and fate. Babylon the Great

In my book “Transcendence” I talk of Babylon the Great as it is expressed in the ancient sacred texts (in particular, see the Biblical book of Revelation). Babylon the Great is treated through symbolism and refers to the world we live in – the earthly empire of the Fallen. Symbolically, Babylon the Great refers to a famous whore who rides a beast with seven heads and ten horns. At length in my book “Transcendence” I describe and explain this symbolism.
