Seek Truth Relentlessly

In this life, there are times when we feel that God is far away. At those times it’s important to know that God has not left us. Whether we accept it or not, God is everywhere, in everything, always. The endless universe is God, and we live inside it.

When we first become aware of our connection with God, in the sense that we are soul (and not merely the outer shell of an individualistic body) and that soul is one with God, it’s like having an opaque veil fall from our face and we suddenly see the reality that has been concealed from us all our life. It’s a quiet and deeply personal experience accompanied by happiness and agitation all at once. Happiness from the realisation “finally I can see and now I know what’s been disturbing me all my life”, and agitation from the realisation “how could I not have seen this before, and now that I see it, what do I do with it?”

Once we start to “see” God through soul consciousness, we must actively and deliberately work at keeping and building that consciousness. We must also open ourselves to receive the Spirit from God – that key ingredient which, in unison with soul consciousness, brings us enlightenment. Whether we want it or not, the Spirit of God is sent to us (this is really what “salvation” is), but to receive it we must be open, willing and conscious recipients.

Finding, keeping and growing soul consciousness and Spirit is not easy. There are two main reasons for this: 1) the fallen interfere with our efforts because they want us to remain in the dark as their unwitting servants, and 2) soul and Spirit, as instruments from God, are profound gifts of enlightenment and true life that require deep and constant interaction and contemplation. When we are obstructed by the fallen and we are distracted from our interaction and contemplation with soul and Spirit we lose connection to God.

We cannot see the truth of this world and transcend it unless we have soul consciousness and receive the Spirit. The fallen angels who created us, and who govern this world, work to keep us in the dark (they keep us asleep; anaesthetised – consider Genesis 2:21 and Isaiah 56:10) so that we exist in an unconscious state. I do not mean that we are physically unconscious, but that we are spiritually unconscious – we are kept in a state unaware of our soul and its place in God, and we are unable to think, feel, and act as instruments of light. We are kept in this unconscious state so that we remain compliant subjects to our fallen masters. To fully understand this, please read my book “Transcendence”.

Our entanglement in the superficial goals and desires of this world draw us away from God. We fixate on worthless distractions (e.g. social media; the latest “binge-watch” series on television; etc.) and we single-mindedly pursue material attractions (e.g. more money, success, status, and ego-validation). Our lives become “full” of things that crowd our “consciousness” to the point we cannot effectively think of or direct action to other things. Our lame excuse is always: “I just don’t have enough time”.

When our soul consciousness weakens and we stumble back into our materialistic ego-centric self, we once again lift the veil to cover our face so that we do not see the reality of this world. Our “blindness” keeps us comfortable in this world of the fallen – it is deception: the world is OK; there is no darkness; there is nothing missing and it’s just us being awkward and ungrateful about what this life gives us. On the contrary, “seeing” the reality of this fallen world is what makes our soul uncomfortable and agitated, and that’s what drives us to the light. The truth is unsettling, but the truth sets us free (John 8:32).

This reminds me of an amusing line from a film I once saw: “I’m only happy when I’m unhappy, and right now I’m very unhappy”. This is the challenge of being soul conscious and Spirit connected: the happiness from our enlightenment shows us the true unhappiness of this world; while the unhappiness of this world can be so overwhelming that it’s easier for us to be “blind” to this world and live impoverished of soul and Spirit.

God is always with us; we just have to find courage to remain soul conscious recipients of God’s Spirit so that we do not move away from God to be happy in this world (Matthew 6:24).
